This aromatic 108-bead mala necklace with sustainably sourced palo santo wood beads can be worn long (if you're tall!) or more likely, doubled up as shown in the last photo.
Two marker beads are blue denim lapis rondelles accented by raw brass beads. The other marker bead is a Peruvian ceramic bead embossed with the word "Peace."
The beads are strung on double-stranded natural linen twine, knotted between each.
The guru bead is a very large solid brass tribal bead, handmade in Nigeria. Below this hangs the tassel made from sari silk - silk recycled from shredded Indian robes.
Palo santo wood has an intoxicating scent - woody with a hint of citrus! The wood is aromatic because the tree produces a fragrant resin.
Palo santo wood comes from the Bursera graveolens tree, which grows in the dry tropical forests of South America - primarily Ecuador, Peru and Brazil. These palo santo beads were sourced from sustainable harvesters who harvest it the proper way, which is very important to the conservation of this special resource.
The mala necklace comes in a lovely handmade bag.
